  • Garrett's advancing size

Leslye had been telling me the size of her babies by food references that came in emails from a site she signed up to. I love it and it gives you such a great idea what the little one really is like.

    week 4 - sesame seed
week 5 - grain of rice
    week 6 - lentil bean
    week 7 - blueberry
    week 8 - pinto bean
    week 9 - raspberry
    week 10 - kumquat
    week 11 - fig
    week 12 - lime
    week 13 - medium shrimp
    week 14 - lemon
    week 15 - apple
    week 16 - avocado (4.5 inches)
    week 17 - turnip
    week 18 - bell pepper (7 ounces)
week 19 - large heirloom tomato
    week 20 - banana
    week 21 - carrot (10.5 inches)
week 22 - Length of a spaghetti squash
week 23 - large mango (about a pound and 11 inches long)
week 24 - ear of corn, just over a pound (viable outside the womb)
week 25 - about the same weight as a rutabaga, 13.5 inches
week 26 - english hothouse cucumber, just under 2 pounds and around 14 inches long (his testicles are beginning to descend into scrotum)
week 27 - 2 pounds (about the weight of a head of cauliflower), 14.5
inches long. Lungs are practicing breathing.
    week 28 -
about two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of his head to his heels
week 29 - weighs about 2.5 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is over 15 inches longs from head to heel
week 30 - just over 3 pounds and 15.5 inches
    (like a head of cabbage)
week 31 - 16 inches and about 3.3 pounds (four naval oranges)
week 32 - almost 4 pounds and nearly 17 inches long (a large jicama - kind of like a big turnip)
week 33 - Just over 4 pounds and just past the 17 inch mark (pineapple)
week 34 - 18 inches and 4 3/4 lbs (large cantaloupe) fat layers beginning to fill in
    week 35 - 5 1/4 pounds (honeydew melon)
week 36 - almost 6 pounds (crenshaw melon) and 18 1/2 inches. Shedding the vernix and lanugo. Bones other than the soft skull are hardening
week 37 - 6 1/3 pounds and as long as a stalk of swiss chard, over 19 inches. Considered TERM.
    week 38 - nearly 7 pounds, 19.5 inches long, like a leek
    week 39 - about 20 inches long, a little over 7 pounds, like a mini-watermelon
week 40 - mini-pumpkins size, over 20 inches and closing in on 8 pounds. No progress even though full term.
week 41 - still waiting. Garrett seems to think that since Mommy had an infatuation with elephants growing up, he should turn this pregnancy into a similar one. Grrrrrrr.

    Party Time!

Hey he has reach viablity.. Although we would not want him born now. but he has a chance if he is .. YIPPPIE.. Great job.. So you go into labor early, late, or on time?

  • just4bees

@opster25@momaroo - Off to bed for me, not sure with tomorrows' forecasted rain what we
will do but I am thinking either the movies or off to Build-a-Bear in
Charlotte to make Garrett his 1st bear (Eric has already wished upon a
heart we had here at the house). I have been late both times so far, 6
days with Eliana and 2 weeks with Braeden. I am going to do everything
I can to give this guy an early eviction notice. LOL.

  • opster25@momaroo

@just4bees - good luck.. there is a build a bear is asheville.. ;) O wait.. I have to wort till midnight hte next 3 night.. anyhow have fun.. Got to love the rain. :)

  • opster25@momaroo

@opster25@momaroo - I am hoping it will work out. I want to be able to go see my grandma and the rest of the family in Missouri in August to show off Garrett and just to see everyone. It has been almost 2 years since I saw them, or longer since last time one cousin was in Colorado and the other was abroad on assignment. I hate going this long with otu seeing grandma especially. She wasn't supposed to make it this long, she has been on "borrowed"time for the past 10+ years so we are lucky to still have her. I just hope Garrett will cooperate and come early. I want to go before the school year begins again and really do not want to drive 14 hours after just a week or two post-partum. I guess we will see.

  • opster25@momaroo

hey did you get my message about the baby stuff?

  • opster25@momaroo

@just4bees - hope you have him in about 5 weeks.. :) My friend that wsa due In july had her baby on monday he was right at 34 weeks.. So you are the next one in to have thier baby. :)

  • just4bees

A lot of Mommas in my Baby Gaga group are having their sections or inductions in the next 3 weeks or so. How is your friend's baby doing?

  • opster25@momaroo

@just4bees - he was on cpap last I knew, He may be off it buy now.  he was 5 4 when he was born he is in the NICU in Ashvielle, They want him to get up to 6 lbs befor he can go home but we are not sure if that will be a requirement. They said he is starting to suck good so if he can feed and gain weight he will beable to come home they where playing around with the idea of him coming home tommarrow but I am not sure if he will or not. Seems alittle soo for what all they want since baby's lose weight at frist.

  • just4bees

@opster25@momaroo - sounds like he is doing pretty well so far. Officially, (well according to me) I have 51 days. I am hoping and praying for no more than 42 days and no less than 32. For totally selfish reasons, I do not want him born in June... I want red, white and blue in my someday mother's ring, LOL.

  • opster25@momaroo

@just4bees - yeah i don't blame you.. Hey I know we can not make it to your house on the 6th. :( cause of work but you can coem for katie's bday party the next weekend if you want. It will be on that Sunday the 14th cause I have to work 2 weekends in a row to get back on track with the team. Me I rather have 2 weekends off that would be nice.. Instead.

  • just4bees

@opster25@momaroo - I wish we could come to her party but Mom
and I got a camping cabin in Myrtle Beach from June 11 to June 15th.
Already paid for some time ago. :( I would have loved to get to see one
of the kids' birthday's. Are there any good kid's science or nature
museums somewhere between us? I need to do a little last minute
supplementing for Eliana's science curriculum and maybe we could do
something like that on a weekday after the 15th?

  • opster25@momaroo

@just4bees - I am not sure what is between us.. Have fun in Myrtle Beach we are thinking of going there. If Dan does get this bonus we may take her to wolf Lodge over in concord for her bday. But I already got the butterfly's to hang, just incase we have it here. We are also doing paper mache and making out own Pinata, this weekend for it. It ia going to be fun I hope it is just going to be us, we are also haveing a bash for the 4th of July, but on that sunday cuase I think we are going to another cook out this year. Mommy in getting into famliy tradtions.. all of sudden. :)

  • My_Pondering_Place

    How cute!

I love your blinkie - the kind of Mommy - did you make that?

  • just4bees

@My_Pondering_Place - I wish I knew how to make the blinkies. A lady on Baby Gaga website made it for me, it is so my style!

  • just4bees

@opster25@momaroo - how is your friend's premie doing??

  • opster25@momaroo

@just4bees - he came home today.. And from my understand he is great. He is a cutie.. though

Go Garrett! Go Garrett! Go Garrett! Go Garrett!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my gracious, Garrett, you need to quit torturing Mama and get your buns here. I fully expected her next blog to be pics of your sweet face and a birth story. Is there an impatient toe-tapping smiley?! Shelly, my dear, is there anything you need? I know it drove me nuts when people constantly called and messaged me, asking if Gabe had arrived, so I haven't done that. Let me know if there's something, even a little luxury thing, I can send you.

  • just4bees

@MRBLayaw - Megan, you are so sweet, you make my day :) I had been planning on an unmedicated intervention free birth but came to the realization last week they never changed my due date in their charts to reflect the sonos since each time it only changed a few days but overall it was 10 days. (They are saying the 27th) If they let me go late, according to their date, I may go into August and my COBRA is only paid through July 31. I am going to go in for appt tomorrow to talk possible induction, yuck!

Come on Garrett....everyone is waiting to see the new star of the century! Come on out and meet your fan club!!! :D  You have a lot of living to do and wouldn't you like to have more room to stretch out, rather than being in the confines of Mommy's tummy? Oh well, good things take time I guess.
Shelly, I think you're right; in your message you said that maybe Eric's visit helped me get better. What a wonderful surprise; he looks as handsome as ever. You do such a great job in taking such good care of him! He's SO happy!  It was a great day and I loved it!!!!!!!! He caught me up on news of you, Braeden and Eliana. We even talked about letterboxing. I had never before heard of it until you got into it. It sounds like a lot of fun; and what a wonderful connection in meeting so many people!!!
I had bought the cutest little knit booties with SU logo at Cracker Barrel, the same day that I later had the stroke. :( Please bear with me,dear heart; I'm going to try and get them mailed out as soon as I can; hopefully before he outgrows them. :D
Big hugs and much love to everyone, Me.
